Uh... well...

That thing he wears... it was pretty ripped up when you brought him here, right? We were showing him more of the reef now that his swimming is better [ seriously mom probably had a Time trying to swim even just in the reef ] but it got caught on something and tore right off! He couldn't get it back on and he seemed pretty embarrassed not having anything to wear so we offered him some of our old clothes...

[ his growing frown deepens ]

But after he tried them on he... did that...

[ a h . . . ]

...Okay...okay he's starting to get a better idea of just what happened here...and Oh Dear.]

I see...it was very kind of you boys to offer him something to wear. I am glad that you did.

[Poseidon moves to swim a bit closer to Choromatsu's side.]

Your Mother is not used to wearing the same sorts of clothing we do...I think he might have gotten embarrassed by it.

Oh.

[ He looks at his own sleeves ]

...I guess they are... less than what he was wearing before...?

[ He can't fathom how it's embarrassing but then again Dia wouldn't take her shirt off... but Amphitrite is only a goddess in name so he's even more ????? ]

[Poseidon nods in agreement, shaking his head a little.]

You have to understand, my son...the way he lived was different from the way we live. We cannot expect him to immediately adhere to the way we do things...even when it comes to what we wear. But I am sure he understands that you boys were just trying to help.

I-I see...

...It was just a little alarming, since he seemed kinda interested at first?

[ HMM WONDER WHY ]

I guess actually having them on was too much though.

[ before Poseidon can say anymore however, they come to the bedroom all six brothers share, where the other five are congregating around some spot in the wall trying to get their mother to come out. Asking, apologizing, making promises they'll do things for him...

Choromatsu points to them ]

Over there.

Oh dear...

[The sea king is quick to swim his way over, causing the remaining five to scoot aside a little when they notice their Dad coming. Surely he'll be able to fix this...right?

Poseidon sets aside his trident for the time being, peering into the crack he'd swum into.]

Love? Are you in here...?

[matteimasu]

[ There is a tiny little glimmer of white visible even in the darkness, a small snake tightly coiled around itself in a pile, hiding its head. ] ...P-Poseidon?

[karappo]

[Ah, yep...there he is.

Poseidon bends down a bit further, having to use just one eye to peer into the crack in the wall.]

I am here, not to worry....is everything alright?

[He knows damn well it's not, but. He wants to see what he says.]

[matteimasu]

[ The snake lifts his head out from his coils, the only indication of this being the soft shine of his eyes ] Y-Yes, everything is fine, j-just... [ And then those eyes are gone again as he hides his head once. The tip of his tail flicks itself around anxiously ] Ohh, it is just too embarrassing...!

[karappo]

[Poseidon leans back just slightly, turning to look back at the mers hovering nearby. He says nothing beyond glancing to the exit, to which they eventually take the hint and clamber outside in a line, pushing each other until they're all out of the room. Poseidon expects they're probably watching from somewhere still, but he hopes it would help to have less eyes on him.

He turns his attention back to the crack, smiling weakly.]

It is just us now, Amphitrite.

[matteimasu]

...Is it? [ he lifts his head again, and then slowly begins to uncoil himself ] Did... Did I hurt their feelings...? [ Embarrassment may have driven him into this form and hole in the first place, but the realization he may have just unintentionally hurt his sons and being ashamed to face them kept him in here ]

[karappo]

Oh non non...I believe they were more...confused by your reaction than anything else.

[At least he's fairly sure they're not upset...Choromatsu didn't seem so, just concerned that they'd unintentionally driven their Mother into a hole in the wall.]

Do you feel like coming out?

[matteimasu]

N-Not really but... [ he uncurls completely and then starts slithering outwards, only peeking his head out ] Can I... stay like this for a while? [ if he's gonna change back he'd rather it be while they have... complete privacy. And preferably only so he can change out of these clothes. ]

[karappo]

Oh...of course you can. But there is no need to hide.

[He extends a hand, letting his thumb brush beneath the little snake's chin.]

[matteimasu]

[ That seems to be enough to get him to come out. The little snake takes takes that opportunity to slither onto that thumb, making his way into his hand and then eventually coiling himself around the base of one of his fingers. He looks like a tiny little snake ring. ...Still hiding his head though. Just with the end of his tail now. ]

[karappo]

[Cute...well, it'd be a lot cuter if he wasn't so distressed. But at least he's just embarrassed as opposed to being in any actual danger.

Poseidon moves to sit down once he has Amphitrite in his hand, letting his tail curl halfway around his side as he holds his hand out in front of him.]

It is that bad, huh?

[matteimasu]

It... It is very...

[ He WANTS to say indecent but he feels that isn't fair to his family... after all he never saw it as indecent or thought twice about it seeing it on THEM, nor does he feel that way about how little Poseidon wears. It was just... when he saw it on himself... ]

...it is very exposed... m-much too exposed for m-me...

[karappo]

[In fairness, if you didn't count his armor...Poseidon wears nothing. Whenever he has legs, the only thing keeping him decent are the rows of scales that travel up his legs and torso. Otherwise...he's just. There.]

I remember you mentioning that before...I am sorry that your other clothing got torn to the point of being unwearable. Do you think you would be more comfortable if you changed back after I found you something more covering to put on?

[matteimasu]

Y-Yes, please... th-that would be preferable...

[karappo]

I will take care of it for you, then. Do not worry.

[Hmm...he wonders if he can get something on short notice...]

...would you like to take a little trip with me, Love?

[matteimasu]

[ He sighs with relief, though the question puzzles him for a moment. He looks up from under his tail. ]

A trip?

...A-All right.

[karappo]

Do not worry, you can remain in this form.

[Poseidon grabs his trident again before getting up and swimming towards the exit, smiling to himself when he hears the telltale sound of scales shuffling as their sons swim away quickly before they're caught eavesdropping.]

I have been meaning to show you the sea on our own time, and I also need to find you some suitable clothing. Why not both at once?

[matteimasu]

Oh!

Yes! I would love that then!

[ ... ]

...Are you well enough now though?

[karappo]

More than well enough!

[He's still not 100%...but he's a lot better than he was before. And he's too excited now to want to stay home.]

Besides, you have been down here long enough...you deserve to see the rest of your home.

[He says this as he swims upwards through the channels in the reef until he breaks through to the open sea, the sun shining down on them from the surface above.]

[matteimasu]

[ Amphitrite has to squeeze even tighter in order to hold on once they're moving and out in the open sea, the current and the strength of Poseidon's swimming not being something he's used to. It'd probably be easier to hold on if he were in his natural form but that ain't happening. ]

Oh--!

[ Still... what he sees when they get to open sea is enough to take his breath away regardless. IT'S SO VAST... ]
