[Poseidon never thought he would find himself clinging to human marriage customs so much, but...having heard about it from Choromatsu, he'd been touched by the gesture. Some things humans got right, after all.

He gestures for Amphitrite to wait where he is for a moment as he swims off into the deeper parts of the cavern, returning with a white speckles conch shell lined with soft seaweed. He takes it carefully in both hands, cradling it to his chest as he swims back over and then...bends down in front of Amphitrite, almost bowing in front of him with his tail curled to keep him a step beneath the edge of the bed.

He holds up the shell for Amphitrite to see, and carefully nestled inside the seaweed is a sparkling gold ring with a deep emerald jewel in the center.]

Amphitrite, formerly Megami- Goddess of the Lake- now Goddess of the River and Sea...will you marry me?

[ Amphitrite is a bit puzzled by what Poseidon's doing... but then he sees that ring in the shell and it all becomes clear.

His face turns red again, both of his hands covering his mouth as tears form in his eyes again. Finally he manages to shakily nod his head. ]

Y-Yes... a thousand times yes...!

[Poseidon knew what the answer would be, and yet it still fills him with a rush of relief.

He reaches out for Amphitrite's left hand, and once he has it he gently slips the ring onto his ring finger. Somehow, without ever being measured for it, it fits him perfectly. It glows briefly once it's put on before dulling back to normal.]

[ Amphitrite can barely see it through the tears in his eyes but even still the ring... is so beautiful...

He can't really say or think much else right now... he's lunging forward in Poseidon's direction, wrapping his arms around him once more and kissing him. He's too overcome with emotion to even consider anything else right now. ]

[Poseidon catches Amphitrite when he curls around him, kissing him back with a smile that hurts his face with its intensity. He didn't think he would be, but now he's crying while they're kissing and just...it's a mess, but a good kind of mess. If any other gods approach Amphitrite now, that ring on his finger is more of a signifier of his taken status than anything, not that Poseidon believes he'd let anyone lay a hand on him now.

He is just...so happy. And he's happy that Amphitrite is happy. He deserves this.]

[ The kiss is probably a lot deeper than any of their previous ones and Amphitrite, quite frankly, doesn't want it to end. He's so full of happiness he could burst, the only way for him to express it is with the tears down his face and this kiss.

But eventually he does part, though it isn't without regret. He rests their foreheads together, his tail and arms fully curled around Poseidon. ]

It... I-It's beautiful...

[Amphitrite’s face is a bit blurred from Poseidon’s perspective, but he can still feel how happy he is. He’s utterly radiant in a way the god can’t properly put into words. And that kiss...he’s actually quite impressed by it, and will probably be looking for that again in due time.

For now, he holds onto him and keeps them both close, the tip of his tail fin curling tight around the edge of Amphitrite’s much longer coils.]

I could not be happier. Truly...I want this to be special, for both of us. And...I suppose I want to make sure I do it right.

[He’s very devoted, you see. Something not often seen with gods, especially not the ones in his family. They aren’t exactly well known for their fidelity.]

[ He smiles and then kisses him once more, but just briefly this time. ]

Thank you for that then, love. For all of this...

[ forehead nuzzle ]

[He nuzzles him right back, his earrings jingling softly.]

All that is left now is our ceremony to make things properly official. Are you excited?

[His hand moves up to the nape of Amphitrite's neck, playing with the short hairs there.]

I suppose I can tend to err on the side of extravagance. But when it comes to those I care about, I simply cannot help myself.

[ He smiles again, his tail tightening just a tad ]

You know, it is somewhat humorous. I always disliked the way other gods would try to lavish me with gifts and beautiful things. But when it is you, well... I think I am starting to appreciate being spoiled.

[Ah, that's right...other gods have acted similarly, haven't they? Except all of those gifts were really unwarranted. ...not that a lot of Poseidon's aren't as well, but he's made him practical things!

And a ring is practical in that it tells everyone he's taken, so.]

All the more reason for me to spoil you even more.

[He nuzzles him again as he says this.]

Especially now that we have so much time ahead of us. Plenty of time for gifts...and to get to know one another~

Amphitrite can't help laughing with glee as he's carried towards the bed, even uncoiling enough that if Poseidon wants to shift his arms a little he could bridal carry him instead ~~because i am all about that gay shit~~ ]

I am glad...! I am happy with you at one size but I... must confess I have been looking forward to... this.

[BRIDAL CARRY IS HAPPENING THEN, his arms carefully holding up both Amphitrite's upper half as well as the start of his long snake body that hangs down and then wraps around his waist while refraining from obstructing his ability to swim.

He settles onto the soft seaweed and various undersea fauna that makes up the place where Poseidon once slept all alone, and sometimes with his sons. Now, it's meant for two, and it will always be meant for two.]

So have I. Though I am not used to remaining at this size...I do think I could grow quite accustomed to it.

[ Amphitrite settles against him, his arms and coils all loose and relaxed. Once they're on the seabed he makes himself a bit more comfortable resting his head against Poseidon's chest once more. ]

Oh I imagine you will. At the very least I can help with that.

I can count on you to still keep me warm at this size though, yes?

[His fins briefly flutter before laying against the sides of his head as he drapes his arms around the goddess' form, letting his chin rest against the crown of his head past the actual crown of shells he still wears.]
