[Poseidon laughs.]

This is not every single merperson in the sea, of course...but this is one of the largest colonies in this area. I thought that staying in a place like this would be better for our sons...I had moved around a lot more before settling here.

[matteimasu]

I see, I see! That makes sense. I am sure they all feel quite relieved having the sea king living so close by.

[karappo]

[He nods, watching fondly as a group of merchildren swim through the city center, chasing each other as they play.]

I have spent the last twenty years looking after all of them as well as the rest of the sea. And now...they are your people too, Amphitrite.

[It's a bit of a risk, him saying that...he knows how he felt about the people of his island, after all. There's certainly no replacing them.]

[matteimasu]

Oh... [ At that... Amphitrite goes quiet. His... people... Then eventually he turns his head towards Poseidon ] I just wish I had something to give to them then... [ He gave his own people so much of himself in the past ]

[karappo]

Oh, love...you are already giving them something priceless.

And that is you.

[matteimasu]

[ Oh That His scales turn red and he hides his head with his tail again ] O-Oh stop... you are making me blush again...! [ But he sounds pretty happy ]

[karappo]

[OH GOOD potential crisis averted.

Poseidon holds the goddess a bit closer to his chest as he resumes swimming again, this time heading down toward the city proper.]

Do not get too shy- we are off to get you some new clothes!

[Where Poseidon is going, the attire is...definitely not modest, at least not by Megami's standards. But he knows that the mers working there will be able to put something together special for their soon-to-be Queen. They'd probably be honored to, even. Word of Amphitrite's presence had spread far and wide throughout the sea, though a lot of merfolk had yet to see him. So when Poseidon comes swimming down from above, they all look up and watch him, most clearly trying to find his new partner.

...not realizing he is the eel-snake in his hand.]

[matteimasu]

[ Amphitrite peaks out from under his tail and notices them all looking at Poseidon. It makes him even more subconscious and he hides again. ] I-I-I... will have to change back once we get there, w-w-won't I...?

[karappo]

Well...if you want to try it on there, yes. But we could just as easily bring it home first. Whatever you are most comfortable doing.

[matteimasu]

Oh! [ THANK GOD ] That is a relief! I would much prefer that! ...Can I confess something a little embarrassing?

[karappo]

Ah? Of course you can.

[Oh boy, is it more embarrassing than his current issue because Poseidon can't imagine what it might be.]

[matteimasu]

[ WELL... ] T-Truthfully, when the boys offered me their clothes, I... t-took them up on it because I... was thinking about what you said... About me looking... what were your words again? "Devastatingly attractive"? [ a.k.a. super hot ]

[karappo]

[OH. Right. ...he did say that, didn't he?

Almost immediately as they start to descend among the "buildings", Poseidon feels his face flush so deeply that he has to look elsewhere.]

A-ah, yes...my opinion as far as that goes still stands. Though I...

[He clears his throat.]

Would not expect you to dress that way out in public. N-not unless you wanted to.

[matteimasu]

[ Amphitrite's own scales are flushed and he's looking away as well ]

I... I think that... y-you are the only one... that I want to let see me like this...

[ oh

OH......... ]

[karappo]

[O h.

Poseidon's fins pin against his head briefly, but he still turns to wave at a few merfolk as they pass by. People are starting to get excited now that they've realized that Poseidon has come to town for a visit.]

That is fine...we will just let you change once we get back to the reef.

[He'll just be thinking about that until they get back that's all.]

[matteimasu]

Y-Yes... [ At the sight of the people he curls himself tighter around Poseidon, hiding his head again. ]

[karappo]

It is alright.

[He reassures him under his breath, cupping his hand around him slightly so he's less in full view of the others. They probably don't quite know what they're looking at. Mostly, the only part they recognize is Poseidon himself.

The sea king swims into a large open area that looks somewhat like an outdoor bazaar with lots of different wares being sold by merfolk of all different kinds. There is one area flanked by seaweed that Poseidon swims for that is being run by a woman currently shaking out a billowing piece meant to be tied on a belt to be worn around the waist. Once she notices Poseidon, he begins chatting with her amicably, explaining that he would like for her to see if she has something a bit less revealing in stock. Poseidon would make something himself, but his magic only goes so far...and he's not the best at making clothing. Especially nothing that's meant to be modest.

He turns to look at Amphitrite once she's disappeared for the moment.]

You may find someday that you want to try and change up your wardrobe a bit. This would be the place to come do that.

[matteimasu]

I see... ...Is this where the boys' clothes came from as well?

[karappo]

[He nods.]

The bases came from here, anyway. I added some things myself...accessories, protection spells...look around you.

[He holds Amphitrite out slightly, and what he'll immediately notice is that, while...revealing and ornate in ways, they're almost plain compared to what their children wear. No fancy headpieces or flowing garments...it's definitely a lot more reserved.]

I cannot conjure decent fabric, but everything else...

[matteimasu]

Ahh...

[ Even if he doesn't conjure the fabric he's pretty impressed ]

You are such a kind father, Poseidon.

[ which he knew already but it bares repeating ]

[karappo]

[Poseidon smiles as the female mer returns, handing Poseidon a long, neutral sort of gown. It is not quite like Megami's toga in that it has two sleeves instead of one and doesn't have to be tied, but it's quite long for something an average merperson would wear. What's more, it covers up the front entirely, which is what Poseidon was after.

Poseidon has her hold it up so Amphitrite can see.]

Would this suit you for me to work on, love?

[matteimasu]

[ This poor mermaid is probably confused as heck at all this and is probably going to be even more confused when the eel thing talks. ] Oh! Yes that would be perfect!

[karappo]

[Yeah, uh. She stiffens markedly when it talks, her complexion paling somewhat as Poseidon smiles and turns his attention back to her, snapping her back to attention.]

Excellent! We will take this one, then. Thank you so much. I will have the payment to you shortly.

[She shakes her head, insisting that he doesn't need to pay anything, but no doubt she'll find some jewels or something in her shop one morning soon. She folds the robe and hands it to Poseidon, who carefully picks it up between two fingers and places it in a satchel around his side.]

There we are. Would you like to see more of the sea before we head home and work on this?

[matteimasu]

[ Amphitrite make a note to properly introduce himself to this mer later. He feel a little guilty about confusing her like this, though even more so about making Poseidon look kinda crazy. Truthfully he would like to go home right away so he can change faster... but he has been wanting to see more and it IS a moment they have alone, without the boys... they're out here anyway, they may as well. ] If you feel up to it, my love. I would love to, but I do not want you overexerting yourself so soon.

[karappo]

[She would probably appreciate that. For now, she's probably going to keep what she saw to herself.]

I do, do not worry about me!

[Poseidon turns away and swims back up through the bazaar, waving a little now and then at the merchildren that go rushing past him, some of them following for a ways and asking if he can come play until he tells them he has other things to do today, but maybe later.

He speaks up again once they are well out of earshot of others, swimming up closer to the open sea again.]

I very much enjoy visiting this place when I have the chance to. All of the people here mean much to me.
