[It isn't too often that the whole gang find themselves in Tokyo for reasons that aren't to do with their usual school idol activities. They're currently on break from their studies, and Chika had been chomping at the bit wanting to go back...
Until she got the flu, and even Chika couldn't powerhouse her way through an actual illness. It didn't feel quite right going on without her, so the trip was called off. Riko had piano to practice, You wanted to keep an eye on Chika so she didn't kill herself trying to leave the house, and the rest had their own business to attend to.
So imagine Ruby's surprise when Dia came up and told her that they two would be taking the trip to Tokyo alone. She had something herself she wanted to attend to, and it was apparently important enough that she was willing to brave that horrible concrete jungle for it. Why take Ruby along with her? ...possibly so she wouldn't have to go alone, and also so she'd have the excuse of her to keep an eye on. Ruby was willing, at least, but...one thing led to another, and since Dia realized she'd have to be without Ruby by necessity some days, they got Hanamaru to come too.
That left the three of them going to Tokyo together with Dia effectively at the head of things, usually doing her own thing when not with the younger two while Ruby and Hanamaru stuck together, Maru already being adept at keeping an eye on Ruby.
Or...so she was supposed to be doing, anyway. But Maru is Maru, and sometimes you get distracted by pastries in a window and don't notice your bff walking on without you. Nor do you realize you've gotten separated in the crowd, and by the time Ruby realizes she's alone it's too late and she's surrounded by people busily trying to pass her on the sidewalk while she sort of just...stands there bewildered, not knowing what to do.
She draws her hands close to her chest, her head whipping around as she calls out weakly, though her voice is drowned out by cars as they go by.]
Ha-Hanamaru-chan! Hanamaru-chan--! Eeek!!
[And flinging herself behind a telephone pole she goes as a woman walks past with a bouncy pomeranian at the end of a leash, leaving her to just sort of shiver there, mostly in plain sight while being overlooked by passerby too preoccupied to notice a lost little girl.]
RUUUUUUUBYYYY also i kept hearing choro's fucking "daijoubu??" from hesowars in my head writing this
[ Choromatsu was just on his way back to Akatsuka ward, after spending his day shopping in Akihabara, when he hears Ruby's shriek and turns to look just in time to see her hide behind the telephone pole. ]
Eh...?
[ He blinks, then watches her for the moment. When he realizes she's shivering he decides to approach her, leaning over a little when he gets there. ]
[Ruby doesn't realize that she's been spotted, at first. She figures that if she hides long enough the crowd will pass and she'll find Hanamaru looking for her. Instead, there's a man standing there, and...oh, he's talking to her.]
...
[She keeps quiet for a long moment, as if hopeful that Choromatsu will lose interest and walk off...but eventually she peeks one eye around the pole. When she speaks, it's with a very slight lisp, but she's so quiet you almost can't tell.
For some reason she looks scared of Choromatsu, and it goes a bit beyond simple stranger danger.]
[ Dia... doesn't mind the expectations placed on her as a daughter of the Kurosawas. She doesn't mind all the learning and duties and the like -- she enjoys it, in fact. Something about knowing there's a tradition like that for her to uphold makes her feel proud of both herself and her family. She's not just any Dia, after all, she's the esteemed Dia Kurosawa of the equally esteemed Kurosawa household. So, she doesn't mind it. Really.
Most of the time, anyway.
Singing as a career isn't really proper for a lady. Oh, it's good for entertaining the guests and it's another jewel in the crown that's all her best talents and accomplishments but no matter how good she is, Dia won't be able to do much of anything with it. Even finding the time to practice at home is a chore now. So instead she decides to take one of the only days free she has in the week and find somewhere private. There's a nice little cove she hasn't seen anyone around for a while and she's sure she'll get some peace for singing there.
It's scorchingly hot when Dia finally arrives but the beach is blissfully empty. She picks a spot close to the sea so she can take a dip if she likes and starts settling in with the little picnic basket. Today should be a perfectly peaceful day. No interruptions, no distractions.
[ Should be, indeed. Though it's not just Dia that was expecting such a thing.
Choromatsu tends to prefer doing things on his own most days, though that can be hard when you've got five other brothers who know most of your hiding places. Thankfully they don't seem to know about this cove yet, so that's where he planned to spend his day.
Finding a human though was far worse than his brothers finding him though.
When he sees Dia on the shore, he has to slap his own hands over his mouth to keep himself from shouting, and he hides behind a rock with a splash. Shit...! What's a human doing here?! ]
[ The sound of a splash makes Dia's head snap up -- she half-expects to see a swimmer returning to shore but there doesn't seem to be anyone in the vast expanse of the sea. She doesn't get the feeling she's being watched but...
She stares out across the water for a few moments longer before giving a short huff and going back to setting out her picnic. There's no need to be so jumpy. She's all by herself, isn't she? And she came out here to relax. Maybe she's a little more tightly wound than she'd expected.
Her tense shoulders finally unwind just a bit and she makes herself put the sea out of her mind. Eventually she starts to relax and with that comes humming -- and eventually singing. There aren't any lyrics, just the las and hums of a lullaby she faintly remembered her mother humming to sing her to sleep as a baby.
[ He should leave. He should leave right now. If a human finds him he's sure he's doomed. Eaten, hung on a wall, kept in captivity... doomed. She hasn't noticed him, so if he swims away now he'll be safe!
But just as he's about to flee he hears her singing.
Carefully, he looks out from behind the rock to see better. ]
[Today will be a special honour for Choromatsu, as not many will receive a chocolate from Peko in their lifetimes.
It's a simple matter to her; Choromatsu had been frightened of her at first, just like anyone else, as far as she could see. But after they were able to help each other with studies, Peko had been fortunate enough to receive his friendship. He was one of many brothers, sure, but he had gone out of his way to speak to a girl who didn't deserve it....
Well, anyway, it doesn't bother Peko that she's giving Choromatsu a chocolate and not any of his brothers, is the point. He'd been friendly (even if it had been out of fear, which Peko could understand if it was) and Peko had very much appreciated the company-- so here she was, meeting with him at a park after studies.
She stands in a black peacoat with a box in her hand (also black, with a little red ribbon, waiting for Choromatsu to approach, and when he does she bows in greeting.]
[ Honestly, Choromatsu had never been... frightened of Peko, exactly. Or at least not for the reasons she thought he might be. Whether she was dangerous or not barely mattered to him, the bigger concern was how pretty she was. He could barely talk to girls on a good day, and pretty girls were an even bigger no-go. And Peko was unfortunately(?) really, REALLY pretty.
At the same time her personality also made her easier to talk to than most other girls, so it was good company AND good practice. After gathering up his courage to talk to her the first time he'd definitely gotten less nervous over time, though it was still hard to shake that completely.
...And okay yeah, the fact she could kill him in an instant if she wanted to was kinda scary. But also hot as fuck so it evens out.
Being asked to meet today though... was enough to give him a heart attack. The date was not lost on him, and the possibility of getting chocolate from Peko was enough to make him scream.
There's no way... there's no way, there's no way!!
--I mean, he'd love it if it was BUT IT COULDN'T BE. IT COULDN'T.
Also his brothers would not hesitate to kill him and that would be far scarier than anything Peko could do, in his mind.
So for his own sanity he convinced himself it wasn't that... she probably just wanted advice!! Or something!! Anything other than what you ACTUALLY DO ON VALENTINE'S DAY...!! And for obvious safety reasons he snuck out, hopefully avoiding the eyes of his brothers. He shows up on time, in his own green coat, trying to steal his nerves. ]
Ah, Pekoyama-san! I-It's no problem, what did you want to... see me...
[ His eyes move down ]
...for...
[ ...what the fuck that's a box. No. No. No no no no no no. THAT'S NOT FOR HIM NOT FOR HIM...!!
But even though he's convinced it's not, it's hard to tear his eyes away. ]
[Peko notices his stare, but it only seems to unnerve her a little-- not that it's very noticeable. It's in the slightest clench of her fingers, the tenseness between her shoulders, her whole body giving off vibes of practiced restraint.
After it would seem Choromatsu is done speaking, Peko offers that small box forward and bows just a degree at the waist.]
Because of the holiday, I thought it would be appropriate to extend my gratitude. [She explains, and after she eyes the box lid and rubs the ribbon back into place with her thumb she adds a bit more hesitantly--]
I hope you can accept my thanks for your friendship.
[Nailed it. Totally everything she wanted to express in total expression city. She's got this.]
[Takumi wasn't a heavy drinker- usually only drinking at events or occasionally with Hinata. And even then it was usually only sake. He tried whiskey since he's been here, and got drunk with the guys. But since then he's been pretty dry.
But he can't resist investigating the bottles at the karaoke bar, pondering all the types available. He's so focused he doesn't even notice anyone else coming in]
