[ It’d been a few days now since Rina finally came home to Japan and reunited with her family, a few of her fellow murdergame survivors in tow. There’d been a lot of questions, a lot of her mother demanding answers from these strangers, and after so much talking and crying, she managed to explain it all and get them to accept the truth of what had happened.
Getting them to accept that she had a boyfriend AND a girlfriend now, well… that took a bit of extra time. Especially when Rina requested that the boyfriend be allowed to stay with her for a little while. And even more so when she declared suddenly that she was considering moving to his world post graduating.
It had just been them for a while now though, after Farrah left with her dads to set up their new home. She was more than happy to spend that time resting, showing off her home and all of the stuff she’d made herself, as well as work on a communication device for the two of them.
Today though she’s feeling a bit more restless. ]
Varian.
[ She pops her head into his field of sight, whatever he might be up to right now. ]
Do you want to go on a date? A real one this time.
[ That isn’t like. In a weird liminal prison they’re trapped in and underneath a tree that he later brought her dead body to. Or whatever dead prom counts as. ]
[Visiting Japan for the very first time had been...overwhelming for Varian in both good and bad ways. He'd been given Quirin's blessing to go, and the others promised to watch after things in his absence...including Ruddiger, who he doubted would fly as well in public in such a modern age. He'd been here long enough to get a bit more used to things, at least. He had a few new pairs of clothes that actually fit the location a bit more, and fortunately with the universal translator still in effect, he could actually understand all of the japanese being spoken. Or, maybe it's the other way around...that he's speaking it and doesn't even realize it.
Whatever the case, there's still been a steep adjustment period. Learning the ways of the modern day, as well as getting to know Rina's family and friends. Even after some time, he still feels like he hasn't even begun to scratch the surface.
When Rina calls for him, he's busy playing with her computer. Even the most simple aspects of him still fascinate him to this day...including the internet, which is still so far beyond his grasp that he has to take it day by day to get used to just having such a staggering wealth of knowledge at his fingertips that he doesn't have to go through books to find.]
Hm?
[He shifts to face her in the chair, his brows raising at her just dropping a date suggestion in his lap like that.]
Oh- oh, like-...actually. For real?
[Yes. Actually for real. She just said that.]
Yeah! Yeah, of course! I'd love to!
[He's already getting up even as he says that, as if they're going to leave right now.]
...OH right! Right, I should- leave- and let you...do that!
[He springs up from the chair so fast it spins briefly on its wheels, marching straight out the door- but she'll still be able to hear his voice echo from the hallway.]
I'll just uh- be out here! Just hollar if you need me for anything!!
[ But she goes and picks out something more outing appropriate to wear. Nothing too fancy - one of the best things about being home again is that she has wardrobe back and can wear whatever she wants, so she’s been relishing in being comfy again. She still picks something cute but it’s warm and loose just the way she wants it - without any worry about lice.
After taking a few more seconds to pack a side bag with her Original Rina-chan Board sketchpad and whatever she might need like a rocket booster apparently she finally steps out into the hall. ]
[Since he doesn't make much to change into, Varian will be heading out in the clothes he was already wearing, which probably seem nice enough, all things considered. He's looking appropriately "teenager", at the very least...even if he looks a lot like a foreign exchange student.
He has to work the goofy grin off his face when Rina appears (to very little success, honestly), rubbing a finger under his nose before reaching out to take her hand with his other.]
[ Another small smile (they just keep being easier and easier to do when she’s with him), before she takes his hand and starts to lead him towards the door. ]
Thank you…
[ As they head out she continues to speak. ]
Um… I know I was the one who asked but… I don’t actually have anything specific planned. I have some ideas of what we could do but…
[ She clicks the apartment door behind her softly. ]
I thought… I’d ask what you’d be most interested in.
[He looks up in thought as they step out of her apartment into the rest of the complex, his other arm shifting to lift his backpack a bit higher on his shoulders.]
I was looking up some stuff online, and there's like- all sorts of exhibits for stuff in Japan, did you know? Like- expositions on science of course and biology...and museums, too! Museums weren't even a thing back home!
They don’t? [ That surprises her but then she thinks on it a moment. ] I guess that makes sense. I think they only started a few hundred years ago.
[ She doesn’t want to be rude by saying “I guess you wouldn’t have museums about history when you’re history yourself” but she def thought it for a few seconds. ]
In that case… I think I know one that you’d really like. We can go there.
Varian's smile wavers a little as they make their way to those fancy front doors that require a special card to get in. He's still amazed daily by the wonders of modern technology.]
[ Thankfully won’t be bad! Certainly nothing like what happened with the car when they were dead. ]
Okay. I think it’ll be a really fun one.
[ She stops for a moment wondering if she should take his hand again now that they’re outside and in public. After a moment of deliberating though she compromises by holding the hem of his sleeve. ]
Be sure to stick close to me though, okay? So I don’t lose you.
Varian has known Rina long enough to know her well, though. He's not bothered by the way she lets his hand go to instead hold onto his sleeve, nodding as he moves his own hands to hold onto the straps of his bag.]
Got it. I'm still not sure I'm used to how big the crowds can get here...
[Corona is a SPECK in comparison to Japan, population wise.]
Mmm, pretty big. They can carry hundreds of people at once, some even more than that.
…The ones in this area are underground so I don’t think you’ve seen any yet. [ She hasn’t brought him far after all, mostly just to her school to meet the rest of the club. ]
No, probably not...but if it can carry that many people it must be huge.
[He's thinking more overall than in the sense of being horizontally long. The concept of vehicles being made up of multiple cars is still something he's getting a grasp on.]
