[It isn't very long before the big day arrives. Of course news had spread far and wide throughout the sea, reaching all corners as word got to mers who lived many leagues away. It meant that the actual wedding couldn't occur for a few months after it was announced, mostly to give folks a chance to come to the city to see it if they wanted to. Poseidon had the task of organizing everything atop keeping the sea in balance, two tasks he somehow managed effortlessly. Soon enough the reef was full to bursting with both locals and visitors alike, all abuzz about the goddess who would be wed to the sea king who had been their guardian and ruler for so long.
The wedding itself is a grand affair. Held in the very heart of the sea in the middle of the reef network where there was plenty of room for people to sit both above and below where the two would be wed overlooking the cusp of the main part of the reef itself. All of their sons were lined up in neat rows of three on either side: Choromatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Karamatsu on Amphitrite's side, and Osomatsu, Todomatsu, and Ichimatsu on Poseidon's. They formed a veritable rainbow of scales this way, a stunning sight to see as Poseidon positioned himself at the head of them in full armor, from his gauntlets to crown and even more than he usually wore just for the occasion.
And Amphitrite...the merfolk couldn't take their eyes off of him. Not only was he himself a deity, but not even a merperson at that...something they'd never seen before. The long, flowing robes he wore in rainbow colors made his long tail even more hypnotic to see twisting in the water as he swam to Poseidon's side carrying a bouquet of undersea life in his hands. He also wore a beautiful crown of shells, along with a necklace and even some more things to decorate him for the occasion like long strings of pearls in his hair. But this was not just a wedding...but a coronation as well. Amphitrite was taking his place next to Poseidon as Queen of the Sea, something no one ever thought would come to pass. Which meant that after their vows were read and rings were exchanged, Amphitrite was crowned by Poseidon himself with a silver diadem crusted with emeralds and crafted to mimic leaves like the laurel he once wore.
Finally, after all of that, the two shared a kiss and sealed their union before the entire sea.
After all the festivities ended, Poseidon and Amphitrite slipped away on their own to collect their things and head off for their "Honey Moon". Their children protested them leaving, but it was Choromatsu who whipped them into shape, fussing at his brothers for not letting them go in peace. He was the only one who really understood the concept of a honeymoon as it was, anyway. Poseidon trusted that they would be okay for as long as they were gone, at least until Osomatsu got his claws in and something happened. But he would just deal with that...later...
As it stands, Amphitrite gets treated to Poseidon carrying him bridal style straight out of the water once they make it back to his island, having shapeshifted in the shallows so he could walk onto the sand on newly formed legs with his wife in tow. It's just starting to get a little darker as the sun begins to set, painting the island a soft orange.]
Looks like we have arrived in time to see the moon rise for our honeymoon, love.
[ The ceremony was so wonderful but also so overwhelming with all those eyes on him that while he loved every moment of it (and cried. cried a lot) he is relieved to finally be alone. This has been the happiest day of his life, and he knows that now it is just the two of them it'll be even happier.
He has also shifted forms in the shallows, matching Poseidon's legs as they surface... not that he intends to walk right away though, he's more than happy to keep being carried honestly. ]
Oh, how perfect...!
If you would like I believe I know the perfect spot to watch it rise.
[He's visited this island countless times by now, but he hasn't actually walked it on foot very much. Amphitrite is his guide here, more or less. Though he could have just swum up river...]
[ He slips out of Poseidon’s arms so he can stand, then gently takes his hand in one of his and begins to lead him away from the beach. He takes him through the forest, gently tiptoeing over the roots, but the path he takes is not the one that leads to his lake. ]
It’s a little bit of a trek I’m afraid... will that be all right, dear?
[ He laughs softly at that, tightening his hand in Poseidon’s and deciding to take the walk slow in that case. They have time. Time to savour together.
Eventually he leads Poseidon out of the woods and up a grassy hill. Wild flowers dot the soft grass and eventually the hill leads up to a cliff over the ocean so they get a beautiful clear view of that as well as the sky. ]
[That's all he has to say at first once they make it to the crest of the hill, his eyes widening as he looks out over the sea. His sea. A view of it that he very rarely ever gets to see, especially like this, in this context.]
Oh, Love...it is beautiful here. Sights like these make me wish some days that I were born a god of the land.
[It takes him a moment- it always does, when he's just recently shifted from tail to legs- to sit in the grass in a way that feels relatively comfortable, but once he's there he wastes no time scooting close to Amphitrite's side, reaching out to take his hand and lace their fingers together.]
A dangerous notion...I may want to stay here forever.

[ Big smile ]
I knew you would like it...
[ He leads Poseidon closer to the cliff’s edge but stops just a few feet away from it, moving to sit down on the grass. ]
Come. We can sit and lie together as long as we’d like.

[ uuuu hand holding...
He leans against Poseidon as soon as they’re both sitting. ]
Oh I imagine you’ll miss being in water sooner or later...
...but I admittedly would not be against the notion.
