[That just gets another chuckle out of him as he ponders what to call this nereid himself. He almost calls him Choromatsu just to be cheeky, but he seems pretty spooked as it is...so maybe he'll just remember that for later.]

So then, Amphitrite...I hope it is not too forward of me to ask if you could show me a bit more of your work? I have some time to spare, after all.

Mm, I am positive. I take much enjoyment and pride in seeing what my fellow caretakers can do...especially those who take care of easily missed parts of the sea like this. Your work deserves to be appreciated too.

[ He smiles, still blushing. He’s honestly... still really embarrassed but happy to be able to show off his work to Poseidon.

He swims away from his perch and wonders where to start. ]

[His eyes follow Amphitrite as he moves forward, showing a little more confidence now that he’s been asked to present what he’s been caring for for presumably for quite a few years now.]

Is this the area of the sea your parents had you tasked with looking after, then? Or did you find it yourself?

[ He starts to swim around the reef, leading the way. ]

I found it. I... wanted to make sure I had a spot that was private and cozy but not too secluded. Just enough to live comfortably in peace.

[ and also so he had more chance to see Poseidon ]

How long have you lived out here? You mentioned your sisters...I do recall you having many.

Oh... some years now. I forget how many... it wasn’t that long after I was old enough to be on my own though...

[Poseidon curls his tail slowly to keep himself upright in the water as Amphitrite explains, taking another cursory glance at their surroundings.]

It is quite nice in here. I am impressed.

[ He blushes again. ]

I-I’m glad you think so, I really do my best with it...

Ah, is that so? Well, I do try to take in as many of the sights of my sea as I can...there are times when places go beneath my radar, of course. Even I can only traverse so much ocean in one day.

Regardless, I am very glad I came across this part of it.

[Poseidon turns in the water, looking down at the smaller mer.]

You would not mind if I came by every so often to see how things have grown, non? This happens to be an area I pass through fairly often.

[ He looks back at Poseidon when he says that, his face turning extremely red. For a moment he’s a little speechless about the idea of getting to see Poseidon even more often, but he quickly recovers lest he look like a weirdo. ]

Excellent! I assure you I will not bother you much...it is just not often that I get to enjoy such beauty beyond the backyard of my reef, you know?

Oh, it would be... far from a bother, your— Neptune...

Any visit from you would be... [ a blessing ] nothing short of an honor.

[He chuckles, a deep and warm sound despite the way it booms throughout the small reef.]

I do look forward to seeing more of your work, too. You have quite an eye for the natural beauty of the seabed and seem to take expert care of this area...and I can tell it means a great deal to you.

He hastily looks away. ]

[ He stops by some anemones. ]

Oh— I am quite fond of these. A family of clown fish live in them...!

[He swims his way closer...leaning right over the Neirid's shoulder to get a better look.]

I can always tell I've done a good job when the local fauna begin turning my works into residences! It is always quite exciting to see.
