[ Choromatsu has never really seen a bow before... at least not one that wasn't broken. The unfamiliarity and the magic of the weapon keep him transfixed.
...the expose arm probably doesn't help.
When Takumi turns and says his name though, he finds himself popping back below water with a startled squeak like sound. A few seconds later, feeling rather silly with himself he re-emerges, though only his eyes. The spiny finned ears are pretty unmistakable though ]
[ He dips his head back under again, but this time it's to swim up to shore. He reappears once the water becomes too shallow for him to stay beneath it. He gets as far onto the beach as he can without beaching himself. ]
Well...I promised my dad I wouldn't leave until I healed, so it took a while.
[ he moves to grab the bag at his side and pulls it up out of the water. He tries to get all the water out of it, before carefully reaching in and pulling out the gauntlets from his father. He sets the pair down in front of Takumi. ]
Um... I said I'd bring something as thanks and uh... these were my father's. He said they can deflect almost any blow.
[ He retreats both hands into the water and pauses for just a moment. ]
Erm... he also said to pass along his regards. He wanted to... thank you for helping me.
[ I mean, that is definitely a thing Poseidon said, though not immediately after the other thing. But it was kinda the implied thing? He thinks. He is but a merneet. ]
[He picks up the gauntlets, and even to his untrained eye he can tell they are amazingly well made- maybe even magical in nature. A real gift from the sea god himself]
Oh, you're just going to turn down a gift from the sea king's son? Really? After he resized them and everything?
[ Choromatsu that line makes no sense, you haven't mentioned your dad is leviathan huge yet
He props up an elbow and rest his cheek in his hand, grinning. ]
It's okay; he said he can't wear these anymore anyway. Or would I rather take them back to him and explain the gift he helped me pick out was rejected?
[He carefully takes off his leather arm guards, and slides them on over his gloves. Strapping them on and tightening them... they fit shockingly well, and he has to wonder if that is part of their magical nature.]
[He trots over and picks his bow back up, swapping it from hand to hand- the gauntlets don't seem to block his range of movement or his fingers at all- that's good.
Just like before he takes stance, his fingers calling the string into being- but when he pulls it he puts a bit more oompth into the weapon. Too worked up from Choromatsu asking about the curse, and maybe a little bit wanting to impress his friend. And that bit of extra force makes the string glow bright emerald green, and as the arrow appears the wind kicks up from the weapon, making the sand billow around him, and catching hos ponytail and causing it to whip about behind him. The light catches the gauntlets and his own similarly colored eyes, shimmering gold, the silver tint of his hair and the gilded weapon all together make quite the image.
He pulls, eyes narrowed with his intense focus, taming the winds with his will. Release-
Um... I'm not sure? [ The merfolk might use weapons for defending themselves from predators and to catch food but aside from being a spoiled sheltered prince people didn't talk to, there's not much way to make what humans have in the same fashion. He has to fall back on what his father's weapons are. ]

[To prove his point he even puts the bow down on a bit of deer pelt near by- likely what he had it wrapped in for transport.]
I'm... surprised you came back...

[ He looks at the bow ]
Did I interrupt you?

[ ah yes, he is a little shit after all ]

He... he wouldn't be insulted, would he?!
[He has never been great with court manners]
I don't want to end up double cursed!
no subject
He's gonna make a note to ask about that curse in a second, for now though he shrugs ]
Nah, it'll probably just hurt his feelings. Make him think he messed up for his son. And then probably send me over with something even bigger.
[ Or not... but his opinion of his father sometimes is lame, over sentimental, dramatic and oblivious so that sounds right to him. ]
So you're just gonna have to accept them anyway~

How do they look?
no subject
They look great!
[ Dashing, one could say.
Then he gets a little more serious. ]
They don't feel weird or anything though, right?
[ he's been worried about this for days ]

...What'd you mean by "double cursed" though?
no subject
[He frowns down at his hands]
It's... it's not important.
no subject
...S-Sorry. Did I say something wrong?

no subject
Well, you don't have to worry about dad cursing you. I think he's more for just straight up killing when he's mad.
[ CHOROMATSU THAT DOESN'T HELP ]

[He huffs and puffs]
Whatever- let's see if I can draw a bow with these]
